The Vlachernai Peacocks folk embroidery kit is a gloriously regal design featuring confronted peacocks, a symbol of renewal and rebirth frequently seen in Byzantine art including the type of decorations that could have been used at the imperial palace of Vlachernai in historic Constantinople. The peacocks rest atop a border of overlapping diamonds which is then ornamented with a graceful outer border of leaves and stars. Worked in a historic color palette of turquoise, deep red, and golden olive, and shown finished as a wall hanging.
