@Suzanne M This was done on 30-count Legacy Linen Sotema, color "Cobweb." It's a bit on the light-weight or flimsy side and I'm looking forward to trying Krista's new 30-count Mikini ground cloth (on order!).
@Cindy Russell This linen does look a bit "thin" but I liked the effect for this pattern. Like you, I am looking forward to working on Krista's fabric, in my case the Greek linen that she has on order. Have you tried the traditional groundcloth? It is such a different feel - I would almost call it folk art or earthy - and I do like it. I'm working on this same pattern on the 30 count Mikini. It's very clean and crisp-looking and the pattern stands out well.
@Suzanne M I have some Mikini ground cloth on order (26ct ivory and 30 ct white) and I'm also looking forward to the linen that will be arriving at some point (ah, the supply chain problems!).
@suem3680 Actually it’s a video on the Avlea website under the tab “how to.” There are other instructional videos there as well. The hem stitch one is very clear.
@fgvicarage Exactly! That one extra time around keeps the inner threads from slipping down, and makes the hem look a bit more formal or defined. It's just something I've been doing for years.
It is so lovely. Could you send a close up of your hem? It is really stunning. In sewing, I love top stitching, it just makes the edge so defined—I think I will try this on my one finished Avlea project!! 😁
I just started this pattern and now I see where you elaborated on it and it grew. That’s cool !
Krista has a tutorial on YouTube I think?
It is gorgeous! You need to teach us how to do your beautiful hem stitch. Love it!
Gorgeous! And that hemming is 💯
Beautiful work, and there’s that gorgeous hem work again!
Beautiful! Do you have a little “ruffle” on the very outer edge of your piece?
