A few years ago, Lefkada Lattice appeared in the Pomegranate collection. As a fan of eight pointed star motifs, I fell in love with it. Krista noted that the blackwork design in her pattern intended to mimic the cutwork in the original and intrigued, I asked her for a copy of the original work, thinking I could fit the cutwork in somehow. The original also used a different stitch so I thought I could just substitute it one-for-one. And boy, was I wrong! I had to rechart the entire design (and much thanks to the Cleveland Museum of Art that had another piece in the same design family that was released as a creative commons and thus super high res!). Anyway, I've finally finished it. Thank you Krista for the inspiration!

Merciful goodness! This is so stunningly beautiful, I can hardly stand to look at it. I am so glad there are unicorns like you who refuse to let beautiful techniques be forgotten. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Wow, simply amazing! Fabulous work.
How might someone begin to learn cutwork? Are there specific resources anyone recommends?
Incredible! What a treasure!
There are no words, you are an amazing needle worker. This is beyond gorgeous.
This is STUNNING! When I saw the original embroidery, I knew the cutwork was going to be beyond most stitchers skill so I chose to design only the cross stitch sections. But your embroidery is SO close to the original and simply amazing. Fantastic job--thank you for sharing this with all of us!
