Going to give a pillow a go. The pillow backings come in 18" and 22". Never have finished a pillow and was wondering how many inches do you need for hem? Like the space around design Krista shows on her videos.
Check out the how to video, but here's a basic guide: you want your finished cover slightly SMALLER than your pillow form. That's what makes a nice, stuffed-looking pillow. So, for example, my cushion embroidery kits (Athenian Palmette, Myra Medallion, & Scottish Rose), those are going to be 18x18". You'll use a 19x19" cushion backing kit and place it on top. Stitch with 1/2" seam allowance all the way around and trim the seam allowance a bit so it isn't too bulky (especially in the corners). Use with an 18" pillow form and it will look terrific!

There is a video in “How To” about making a pillow cover. I haven’t watched it but perhaps it would be helpful! Good luck!
