Hi all! I'm new to using traditional ground cloth and I love working with it, but I'm wondering what is the best way to keep the edges of the fabric from fraying. I don't have access to a serger. Any other suggestions?
I actually baste a hem all the way around raw edges. Nothing formal, just turned in quarter to half an inch and baste stitch; although the Avlea kits come with fabric that is very nicely serged already.
You can work a wrap stitch around it to help prevent that fraying--just quickly use some sewing thread to do some large stitches around the edges. Or, if you have a sewing machine, use a zigzag stitch on the largest length to stitch around the edges. Hope that helps!
